This last saturday was the annual Pi Kappa Phi Strongman event at Louisiana State University, I'm not a member of the fraternity but the strongman was used to raise money for their community service, they raised the money for charity.

So it was a good cause, that and flexing in front of sorority girls.

I sort of explected there would be more students there, all said and done there were like 5. I was one of them.

There were 3 guys there from LSU powerlifting (Me and 2 others). The other students were those recreational juicers you see in the gym but never think much about.

Some semi-pro strongmen there, it was pretty cool.

So without further blabbering, the pictures!

Let's hope I cropped them right this time.

This picture on this post should be the 600lb tire we had to flip for time.

This next one is the car we had to deadlift and subsequently hold for time.

There was a lot of bullshit and hitching of the bar but it was still a fun event.

Here's the lineup of the lifters.

I was definately the lightest guy there.

I'm in the Titan shirt on the far right and some of the other lifters for LSU powerlifting are close.

Here's the same guy as above on the tow truck pull. The tow truck weighed about 17,000 lbs, he tore through the pull.

I didn't receive any pictures from the farmers walk which isn't all bad because I tripped and ate pavement. The air tanks we were carrying were about 150lbs each on that, I just tripped on my own huge feet :(

Looks like a pretty cool event...wish FSU had done something like this when I was in school.

Cool pics!

I know some guys on the LSU PL team. I know a Scott Koneci (sp?), Clint (165 PL'er, I think he graduated), Paul Fletcher, Arval, and Exxon.

Sweet shit. We do a strongman at the end of the year for my school too, mostly football players. Unfortunately we don't anywhere near the cool shit you do: the car deadlift, tow truck pull, that stuff. All in all, some good shit. I love seeing stuff like this.

Skinny tires suck. I had to flip one in the Seattle contest last year, needless to say I did terrible in that event.

Sweet contest, looks like fun. Nice pics.

Had I known, I'd have gone to watch. We tried starting a lifting club @ L.S.U.-E in the later 90's.Could never really get it to take off.A guy named Randall Stelly not involved huh? He was a decent guy and had good lifts for his weight. When I was @ L.S.U.-E it was he and I that had tried to start it up.Good to see ya'll have something started up.

Crap I missed it this year! I participated in the 2nd year they had it. I think that was the largest year for them. They had about 23 people in it. Anyway, I came fifth. Nothing to brag about except that I fell in love and now have my own tire, harness, farmer walk bars, homemade yolk, etc. I haven't been able to use my gear as much lately but I'm ready to start again while I do the Cheater's diet. Shoot me a PM, Ghost, if you're down for joining us. We normally do it on an LSU lot or close by.

They don't do a good job of advertising it, BTW. I wanted to do it this year but I heard no word of it. Then again, I workout in my own garage. Rec gets too packed for me. I like to go a little crazy. :-)

Sounds like fun Popa, and I agree they do a crappy job of advertising to the lifters.

The sorority girls get the word but they're about it.

I found out about it from the other guys on the lifting team.

And no, I haven't heard of a Randall Stelly, but I've only been on campus for a semester and a half now so I'm not familiar with all the facets of the strength community yet.
