Before what? After what? What happened during the time period in between which these two pictures were taken. (Besides covering up that MASSIVE outtie with a shirt.)

"Prince's kidneys failed during his preparations for the 2003 Night Of Champions primarily because of the painkillers and bodybuilding drugs he took in large doses for many years. He overcame critical condition quickly, but he couldn't recover entirely. After dialysis treatments from April through September, his kidneys healed as much as they would. They now function on their own at 90%."

GH seems to have that effect on some of them. Markus Rhul had a "belly button blow out" and had surgery to correct it. I personally don't believe that at all and think he just went in for cosmetic surgery because it was getting larger and larger every time he made a public appearance.

im not sure if im buying the whole GH gut thing. GH has been around a hella lot longer than marcus and ronnie. I think its a contributor, but not as much as the sheer amount of solid food calories needed to gain weight at 330+ lbs.

Calories don't make your belly button grow. Until Dorian Yates, no one was using GH to that degree. You can tell by the sharp change in the look of physiques around that time, including Nasser.

How come he's SO small now though - did he quit training or has he only gotten better recently? I know loads of natural guys who are multiples bigger than that after pic?

This:
Author's note: Of the top five heavyweights in the 1995 NPC Nationals, only Toney Freeman has not suffered a critical illness. Severely dehydrated, Edgar Fletcher had been rushed unconscious to a hospital during the 1993 USA Championships. Don Long had a kidney transplant in 2002. Curtis Leffler died of a heart attack in 1998; he was 36.

Is the most pathetic thing I read in that whole article (aside from the fact that someone would push their body to that degree and not expect it to give out at any second the way Tom Prince did). This should signal major changes but those changes seem to be coming pretty slow.

Edgar Fletcher was one of the most developed named there and that explains why he has disappeared lately. He was one of those also known for how "dry" he could get for a contest. If there is one thing they need to get rid of today, it is the use of diuretics. Well, that and giving out high placings to guys who are 5'8" yet 280lbs in contest shape.

There's a big difference between natural and in good health...and natural with poor functioning kidneys, destroyed joints and arthritis.

Its going to take a death by one of the top guys or somebody literally dropping dead on stage to make any significant change happen.

Don Long is going to compete one last time here soon. His transplant in 2002 from his sister did not work, so he must filter his blood through a dialysis machine. He was one of my favorites back in the 90's. Unlike Prince, he didn't just give up on the iron game. Look forward to seeing him on stage, just probably will not look the same.

BTW Prince from the little bits and peices I've gathered was notorious for using large doses of oral AAS for LOONG peroids of time in addition to nsaids to ease the pain he put himself through. In other words he was killing himself.

well if that would work than they would have stopped when Andreas Munzer dropped dead. Nope, that won't stop it either.

Postmortems blame Benaziza's death on abuse of diuretics.
From:
http://apse.dallasnews.com/...805epstein.html

Diuretics use gets the blame for most of these cases that involve kidney failure. Of course it is a combination of everything. However, drying your body out past the point at which it can function well ON TOP OF everything else these guys are doing is what can push them over the edge. The same went for Munzer. If your blood gains the consistency of maple syrup, it may be time to drop the lasix.

That is why one the better moves they could would be to stop requiring these guys to come in super ripped and awarding it over and over again. Bodybuilders of the 60's didn't have that hurdle to jump as long as they had overall definition. No one was looking for "striated glutes".

Nah! They just need to start using some coumadin.

That may present some problems with needle use though.
