I have cut down from 88kg to 82kg to get into the 82.5kg (182 lbs) class for my first deadlift competition.

The pics are of me after carbing up for two days so I'm 84kg (185.5 lbs) in these.

Lifts
Bench press 100kg x 4 (220 lbs x 4)
Front squat 130kg x 1 (285 lbs x 1)
Dead lift 220kg x 1 (485 lbs x 1)

I have 4 pics coming up.

Good job man. What sort of diet did you use to diet down? How much weight did you drop?

Hi, My diet has been inspired by the v-diet, Rapid Fat Loss Handbook and Radical Diet.

6 days- 1000-1200kcals 70-80% Protein, 0-10g carbs, fats- fish oils and those in the meat.
7th day- carb up. Which brings the weeks calorie average to about 1500per day. (rice, pasta, fruit, bread, a little junk)

After I got to 81.5kg I took my foot off the pedal and increased the carb ups to 2 days so my fatloss has slowed. Also the ammount of junk I ate has been too much (anything I wanted). This week I want my final bodyweight to be 81kg so I know that on any scale I will be under 82.5kg. So a clean carb up and only for 1 day.

You are looking cut but are definitely lacking overall mass. Shoulders especially, but you could add a little meat everywhere.

Do you have any pics of where you are at 88kg? Personally, I think you would look a lot more beastly if you were competing at a solid 90kg.

How tall are you?

Hi Super Mario, yes I will get the pics pre-cut at 195 lbs later today as I'm going out right now.

I wanted to compete in the 82.5kg for my first competition, firstly so that I could get very lean to look better and secondly to improve my stregnth/weight ratio. Not important for everybody but I was positive I could lose the fat and gain strength which is what has happenend. We will know the final outcome on competition day one week Suinday.

This is probably going to be my first and last competition at this weight as I agree that the 90kg-100kg is more realistic for my height. I am 6' exactly.

Nice job, but cutting on 1200 Cal a day must have sucked. My cut is on 2000-2300 a day.

Looking pretty good for your size, but for 6' the 100kg would be amuch better idea next time around. Good luck at this meet!

I shall be working on my shoulders and chest especially and getting my deadlift to 240kg (530lbs) by the end of this year.

Thanks for your comments. I will be back in the future with new photos.

Looks like you held on to most of your muscle during the cut.

Working on you hamstrings is going to be a big thing for your deadlift.

Just start packing in the calories after your competition. I am kind of in the same boat as you; I also just dropped down to 181 from about 187 and I am planning on making the jump to 198 for my next meet in may.

Hams, something I've not really focused on much via stiff leg or romanian dead lifts but probably a good addition when I start adding more training back in. Good suggestion and good luck with your competition in May.

Looking good man, how long did you stick with your diet for? I am right around the same as far as starting weight and where I want to end up. Did you change anything else as you went along or did you keep the cals and %s pretty much the same?
