today at the ymca, that I lift at, they changed the plates from cast iron to to rubber grip plates. They feel much lighter then the cast iron. Can any one tell me why? |

light how?
if it feels lighter on the bar maybe it's because some plates develop rust, etc and become heavier over time. |

I know that, the weights are coated in rubber. but what is the actual weight difference between 45lb iron plate to rubber coated 45lb plate. so that I can add more weight to balance it out. |

So what weighs more, a ton of feathers, or a ton of cast iron?

That has to be a trick question. How hungry am I when I'm faced with this hypothetical situation? And are graham crackers and bonfires involved? |

My favorite planet is the SUN. It's like the king of planets. But if the Moon was made out of barbeque spare ribs, would you eat it then?

Plates covered in ostrich feathers are heavier cus ostriches can't fly. That's really the extent of my knowledge on the subject though =/ |

Actually, honestly, I have rubber coated plates back at home with my parents and every time I go back and use the weights, they feel much heavier than the iron plates I use at the gym out where I am now. Did they get new bars? Maybe they have more bounce and that makes it feel lighter. I've always assumed it felt heavier because the rubber plates don't move around at all on the bar, while the iron ones here tend to have holes a little wider than 2 inches so they hit against each other when I lift and bounce the bar around a little.
Or maybe it's just the clinking sounds they make that make me feel more manly and lift more. |
