Modern Day Progressions
by Chad Waterbury

You have to constantly force your body to do what it's not used to doing. Here are two progression methods that'll stick a firecracker up your lazy butt.

Chad, for the rest-pause, do you recommend using a load near 5RM, at 5RM, or a little more than 5RM? |

With the second progression if you wanted to gear it more towards hypertrophy could you increase the amount of time you are working? Or would the 15 sec be sufficient time under tension to induce hypertrophy.
I was thinking of using this method within James Chans shotgun workout on the trouble shooting day. Anyones thoughts or opinions? |

Hi Chad
sorry to jump in and ask something unrelated but I don't know where else id get to ask.
I was reading your book and planned to try some combinations of your programs. Just a simple question on it how key to their success is the exercise selection, can any selection of exercises be used or are the ones you have outlined paramount ?
Great article by the way.
Thanks

Good article. Now, what about using something like S-15 for my, lets say "off days"?
I lift heavy M-W-F, mostly under 8 reps (5-3 reps). What If I use it on T-Th-S as some recovery or speed training?
Would that be too much interference with my workouts, Im thinking that both speed and strength somehow tax the same fibers? At least I think so, being it onle 15 secs maybe you wont reach the same extent.
Ive been doing something like that, just that the off days are not programmed, just jerking around the gym doing random excs but with speed.
What do you think about that? |
