what's so bad about chalk?
Nothing, I think he is either joking or a total dumbass.
I should have been more precise...I was thinking of some guys who use straps and/or chalk on their warmup sets, with an empty bar (not kidding, I have witnessed this many times)...Nothing against chalk, when guys can deadlift some serious weight. If you can't deadlift your own bodyweight without chalk, you have a problem, IMHO. |

9 be proud that you are doing different things in the gym than 90% of the other people, obviously youve gained knowledge and they are just there to be there.
If the 90% are bigger and stronger than you, it may be you who is doing the wrong shit.
Just keep in mind that an elitist attitude is self defeating if you aren't accomplishing more than those you hold yourself in higher regard.
Except the LA Fitness I work out at I feel I've made more noticible size gains in the four weeks ive been going there then these people do all year. You have the big guy 250lbs that all he does is incline decline and regular bench every time hes there, the guy that flexes his arms in the mirror between sets and still does curls with 50s swaying as much as humanly possible to bring the weight up.... maybe this is more of a venting comment.
Either way I feel i have a damn good idea about what im doing and this 90% i speak of maybe too high of a number. Dont you ever just see those people that are doing lifts but arent even focusing on ones that stimulate the maximum amount of muscle growth.
Basically I want everyone in my gym to read Tmuscle, is that too much to ask? |

Yeah, it's called sweaty hands.
I use chalk from my first rep to my last, and don't give a shit what anyone thinks about it. |

Not really. I go at off peak times, and most of the people there when I am there are putting in the effort too. I pretty much ignore everyone else.
Look, all I'm saying is, if the person you're looking down your nose at has accomplished more than you, ask yourself if you really should be looking down your nose at him.
Aside from the fact, not everyone has the same goals I do, so I don't judge people without knowing what they are there to do.
Plus I would bet the 250lber could show you a thing or two. You don't get to 250 by accident.

I think a lot of people need to remember and apply #4.
Less time arguing on these forums = more time to lift, more time to do #5, more time to sleep, and more time to enjoy life. Unless of course TMuscle forums are the best part of your day.

A few things I learned from T-Nation forums
1-Always, always, stick it in her pooper.
2-politics is best left to headhunter, tribunal, LIFTICVSMAXIMVS, and pushharder. to try to get in the middle of them is just asking for a shitstorm
3-prof x is big. dont ask him about dieting, it will end badly.
4-sex and the male animal is best left to cowboy_69
5-holymac is a god among men
6-my class sucks
7-MMF is apparently prefered
8-and when all else fails, stick it in her pooper. who knows, she may like it. |

What?! I safely consider myself to be a man and Holymac is no god with either a big or small "g"!
Hell he's Army for god's sake!!!
Now, court jester, I wouldn't argue with you on that!
Sorry Holymac couldn't let that one go anymore; but don't worry I forgive you ever time I see your call sign. |

Shit... That was #1 on my list.

#2 on my list is ignore all the guys who say this... Yeah, you have to get in the gym and bust your ass. And you have to eat well and plenty. But you also have to rest well and plenty. And the best thing to do for your muscles during your awake rest time, is read, study, ask questions, and learn how to get better results the next time you are in the gym. |

Thank goodness you posted this picture because I was going to say that your list did nothing to improve the image of 2009.
You certainly aren't the worst 09er around so don't take that as an insult.
And to the rest of you 09ers. Just because 2010 is right around the corner does not absolve you all from your collective douchery. |

just wanted to share some of the things that i wish i knew when i first started bodybuilding.
Way back when you started bodybuilding... a year ago? (As per your profile.) And by the way, is that the USMC logo you have tattooed on your lower back? Ooookay then.
I was going to address your points one by one, but like others have said, it kinda sounds like you're saying what you think you should be saying so we know you're "serious enough" about training.
In any case, if these are things you believe, good on ya, I guess. But the majority of your points are vague, and because of that, they'll be flat-out incorrect in some instances. As long as you recognize that, and don't start thinking that there's only one way to think about training and nutrition, you'll be off on the right foot.
As for my own contributions, I started a thread a few weeks ago, 30 Things I Think:

Touche, my friend, touche.
But I wasn't quite trying to bust his chops for it (the placement, maybe, but not the tattoo itself). Mostly just trying to figure out what it was, since it seems to be just an outline. |

I hate to say it but if you can squat three times a week then you're probably doing it wrong.
Don't tell that to the powerlifters lol |
