Okay, I'm 38, ugly and getting fat. I can't do anything about my first two issues, but I can do something about these love handles.
I've posted mostly in SAMA and Get A Life, but have been a frequent reader over here in The Over 35 Lifter. I thought about posting in the 'log' forum, but wanted the support of my fellow old bastards.
I'm flying to Oahu for the Say Famille annual Hawaian vacay on January 16th. Between now and then I am going to transform my body.
I will be posting pics over the weekend to show you what we're starting with.
My current workouts have been basic 5x5. Today's work was:
Deadlift: 165*5
215*5
265*5*3
Bench Press: 165*5
215*5
265*5*3
Smith Machine Squats: 160*5
210*5
260*5*2
Pull-ups: 3*8
I'm currently nursing a nagging click in my left shoulder, a nagging click in my left knee and I tweaked my hammy today on the squats which is why I stopped after only 2 sets at 260.
My diet doesn't suck, but lately I've been hitting the whiskey (and wine, and beer, and rum, and schnapps) a little too hard. Today's food was:
Meal 1: 2 scoops Metabolic Drive
1 cup blueberries
1 cup broccoli
1/4 cup instant oats
Serving of super food
5 g. Creatine
4 Flameout Tabs
Meal 2: 4 hardboiled eggs
Mayo
Few cornichons
Meal 3: Surge
5 g. Creatine
Meal 4: Can of Salmon
Handful of mixed nuts
Okay...I guess today's food has kind of sucked...I'll plan, cook and eat well for 4 days and then fuck up...add to that my love of booze and you get my current fat gut.
I've read Gus Pacho's transformation several times and think my body is pretty close to his before body. I think Gus probably had 10 lbs on me as I'm currently 201 with about 18% bf. My goal is to follow Gus's plan and see what kind of transformation I can make before flying to Hawaii.

Hey Sen Say!
Welcome aboard! Your posts are pretty entertaining to say the least.
Always good to have another in here. I'm still going the opposite way (ie bigger), but when I'm ready to cut back down, it will be good to see what you've done.
I followed Gus' PC pretty closely and started his plan about 2 weeks behind him. I did the one month in January and had pretty good success with getting the weight down. I don't know that I'd go that route again, but always interest to see what works for folks!
Looking forward to this one!

Welcome, guess I better go over and read some of your stuff on the other forums. I don't get out of here much. So you dead, squat, and bench all on the same day? That can be brutal. How many times a week?
Some of the guys in here know a lot about different routines and can provide some really good info and feedback. I'm here for the morale support. |

Thanks for the welcomes and good wishes fellahs.
My persona over on SAMA and GAL is pretty nutty, but I'm pretty sure most people over 17 know I'm usually full of shit...well...I guess 25 is the new 17, but anyway I wanted to start this thread to prove to myself that I can still kick ass in a serious way too.
I dead, squat and bench all on the same day. It can be brutal...but I work out at the gym where I work and we don't have a squat rack, so I can only squat what I can get over my head and then get back over my head after my set...so the most I've squatted was 215lbs...I just recently moved to the Smith Machine because my legs suck and I want to go heavier on the squats even though I don't like the Smith Machine and have had some knee troubles from it in the past.
I was following Chad Waterbury's Total Body Training for the past year and that calls for 3 workouts per week...couple weeks ago I switched over to Reg Park's 5x5 program...only I didn't know what one of the exercises was in his program, but I was pretty sure pullups was a good substitute.
I'm ready to work my ass off for the next two months...for me that's going to mean working it in the kitchen and stayin' off the hooch ! And wouldn't you know it last night I got a call from She Say asking me what we were doing last night and I said, 'going for a walk and avoiding alcohol' to which she replied, 'aw baby, I thought you'd wanna take me out dancing and show off my new boots'...and...I know I can't do that without tossing a few down, at least not yet, so we ended up staying home and watching Enchanted with the kids...all in all an enjoyable night, but not the same as kicking up the heels and drinking with a short skirted, boot wearing wife. |

Last Thursday's breakfast, just for fun...scrambled eggs, smoked salmon, capers, shallots and a dollop of sour cream.
Today I'm having:
2 scoops meatbolic drive
1 serving superfood
5g Creatine
1/2 cup blueberries
2 cups spinach
I'm not 100% sure what the hell I'm doing for my diet yet. Just got the itch to do this yesterday about 5 minutes before I posted and posted before I could chicken out. I'm thinking of taking in 2,000 calories per day mixed up between 2 or 3 shakes and 2 or 3 whole food meals. I'm going to keep carbs below 50 grams.
What do you guys think? Do I need something more drastic? I was thinking about the V-diet for a coupled of weeks to jumpstart things...
I'll have updated stats on Monday, but as of 1/6 I was:
Height: 5'8"
Weight: 196
Abs: 36.5 (This is gut sucked in as that's how the girl wants it)
Chest: 44"
Neck: 15.25
Bicep: 16
Skinfold Measurements:
Bicep: 4
Tricep: 8
Subscapular: 16
Superilliac: 10
Total: 38
% = 19 |

Blend and Chug:
400 calories
Pro: 45
Fat: 5
Carb: 41
I added 1/4 cup instant oats....looks like I'm done with carbs for the day.
I'll be drinking this for breakfast every day for a while.
Have a great day gentlemen. I'll be taking 2- 2 mile walks today. I got a 2 mile walk in last night in the rain and will be doing the 2 mile walk every night. She Say and I usually walk 3 out of 5 weekday nights and maybe 1 weekend night, but bad weather and other activities sometimes get in the way. I'm figuring 60 days to Hawaii at 2 miles a day will give me 120 miles walked before I leave. Not sure wtf is the significance of that, but sounds fun.

I don't know if you've been following AngryVader's log but he's got some really good info on dealing with nagging issues in it. |

Thanks. I'm big on The Presentation.
Where are you now in relation to the 53# waist? Not to be gay, but it's not where we are, but where we're going. |

It's more like tendon...tasty to chew on...makes you feel like a dog...which is usually pretty cool.
Days food cap:
Cal: 2113
Fat: 128
Carbs: 91
Protein: 162
I would've liked to get 200 grams of protein in, but I feel pretty good. I took in a lot more carbs than I'd planned, but it was comprised of oatmeal, blueberries, avocado and broccol and was all eaten before 1 in the afternoon.
I gotta go to my mom's b-day party tomorrow, but I'm gonna keep the diet tight and report back to you guys.
Monday thru Friday of next week I'll have more scheduled meals. Chicken and Salmon for protein mainly and the shakes.
