Please respect my family's privacy.
Jesse Dawson Marunde

This thread is not for questions. This thread is for you to offer comfort to a family of hurting people.

A statement will be made at a later time. Until then I covet your prayers for my family.

Wait, Jesse died?

And I think the birth year is wrong.

More details, Phill.

No one has said how it happened?

Sad.

I think the birth date is wrong.

i was just about to post this phil. horrible news to start the day! According to Selby MacFarlane on the NAS forum Marunde had a ``massive coronary'' after doing a set of high-rep squats, though this hasn't been confirmed by his family yet.

jesse was only 28. i'm absolutely stunned by this. i had the pleasure of training in a group with him last year. seemed like a decent guy.

Didn't get the chance to know him, but he seemed like awesome guy, dedicated to his training.

R.I.P

My thoughts and prayers go to his family

Condolences to the family. I Met him briefly at a strong man show in Wilmington De, I was asking him questions for 15 minutes between events. He was completely cool about talking. answered everything and offered some good advice. even signed autographs and bsed with a little kid, who was in awe of the size of the guy.

Guy just seemed like a genuinely good guy adn the sport and his family are left without a good man. again my complete condolences to the family. BB

To An Athlete Dying Young

THE time you won your town the race
We chaired you through the market-place;
Man and boy stood cheering by,
And home we brought you shoulder-high.

To-day, the road all runners come,
Shoulder-high we bring you home,
And set you at your threshold down,
Townsman of a stiller town.

Smart lad, to slip betimes away
From fields where glory does not stay,
And early though the laurel grows
It withers quicker than the rose.

Eyes the shady night has shut
Cannot see the record cut,
And silence sounds no worse than cheers
After earth has stopped the ears:

Now you will not swell the rout
Of lads that wore their honours out,
Runners whom renown outran
And the name died before the man.

So set, before its echoes fade,
The fleet foot on the sill of shade,
And hold to the low lintel up
The still-defended challenge-cup.

And round that early-laurelled head
Will flock to gaze the strengthless dead,
And find unwithered on its curls
The garland briefer than a girl's

The name will not die before the man. RIP brother.

There is no link. It was a rumor on his website last night and it's since been confirmed. It's just terrible

It's sad to hear he died that way. Then again, he died doing the things he loved, so I guess it's nice to remember not how he died, but how he lived.

RIP.

I have been trying all mourning to find somthing marunde-muscle says the server is down nd wont let me get onto any pages. ESPN and Metrx havn't been updated and havn't posted anything. I was told heart failure, I really feel terrible for his family especially with two young kids and a widow.

My condolensces go out to the entire Marunde family. The strength world has truly lost a great athlete and a great person. He was truly dedicated to his sport and spreading the popularity of strongman. I remember a MET-RX add I saw a few years ago where he said that everything he did in life he did to get stronger, faster, more powerful, etc.

He will be sorely missed...

All though I cannot imagine how his family feels I hope they get through this hard time, because the pain does subside.

I dont want to take away from what this thread was started for but here is what I have read on this subject.

Top American Strongman competitor Jesse Marunde died last night from an apparent heart attack. He was 28 years of age. Reports indicate Marunde had just completed a set of high rep squats when he was stricken. Gigi Marunde says that a statement will be released.

Ya know, I was just thinking that. I'm sure it will surface, just as it has against anyone who has been involved in competitive sports that died young. Plus the fact that he was a strength competitor makes it that much easier to blame steroids, whether he used them or not.

Yes I read that post yesterday as well, something like HEAVy high rep snatches, push press with 300+ pounds for high reps, a bunch of other stuff and a I think it was 20 rep squat drop set, decreasing the weight each set, sorry if I am wrong this is all of memory as the site is still down.

This is one instance where thankfully strongman is under the radar so I dont expect much media bullcrap, internet jackass's will still be fucktards.

I do suggest we keep this topic away from that and have some respect for his family.

I am sure there will be a donation set up for his family I will gladly contribute and would urge others to do the same.
