Something really strange has happened, the site layout has changed. It's all very confusing, and it looks really poor, I don't know if this is some sort of error, but it looks really bad.

Mine looks totally normal, but I'm using Internet Explorer version 7.

Try using IE and see if you still have the problem (just a thought as I'm assuming you're using something else).

Yeah, hard reload to update your cached css file. It should not look like the attached image.

Are the 'side nav' links to the various forums gone for good? They were very convenient.

Agreed, a good function has been lost.

I can honestly say that I think the 'new' format is a backwards step. It's horrible, quite frankly.

Sorry Mods, but whoever thought this was a good idea, needs to be sat in the corner with a dunce cap on for 24 hours.

BBB

EDIT: OK, so it's growing on me, as it was bound to. No dunce cap required, sorry about that.

I really miss the sidebar navigation links.

I concur, the side bar navigation was good.

I like the rest though

Maybe in the future you guys would consider doing a feedback poll for features you are contemplating removing, and possibly for additional features you might want to add.

If you had a poll with discussion after it it might be valuable tool to see what the people want and how much it can work with what you are trying to accomplish. I too used the sidebar forum link basically as the only way I jumped forums.

I'm thinking maybe the deletion of sidebar links is to force the user to scroll up top to click on another forum, hence conveniently scrolling past whatever advertisement they happen to be showing that day.

Clever, but I miss my sidebar.

I can't complain about the layout, but the (lack of) color contrast in the search bar at the top of the page is really annoying. I really have to tilt the screen on my laptop and strain my eyes just to make out what I'm typing. It'd be alot better if the text were white on dark grey instead of black on dark grey - just like the text field down at the bottom of the page for posting.

The side navigation was pretty handy, but I'm really liking the extra-wide posts on the screen. Make it much easier to read, and really makes the posts the focal point of the page. I'm sure by the end of the day, or first thing tomorrow, it'll be the new "normal."

Matt, you guys do a heckuva job, but any changes are going to be roughly received whether you take a vote on it, give notice beforehand, or spring it all spontaneous-like. So here's a quick 'lil something to help the rest of your team take any critiques in stride.

As with any other alterations to the site, the changes made here were not done in haste. They were done based on hard statistical fact.

Contrary to what is being discussed here, the forum links on the right were seldom used. And the other banners / links over there even less-so.

Additionally, the way it is laid out now gives us much more room for content, etc.

Yeah, but they were the ONLY links I used. All for one and one for all, eh?

Me too, and combined we easily make up half the traffic to this site. Right Lanky Brofo! I guess if this culminates in the nearly naked women pictures taking up even more of the screen I can live with the changes. Also your tech changes would go over much better if you did a blast PM or an article where you warned us of the upcoming changes, albeit mixed in withy pictures of half naked babes. I bet you would only get 5% of the complaints.

Hey Matt,

One more thing, the new search bar is black, but the text it also black, so you can't see what your typing.

Tip: You can also scroll to the bottom of the page you are on and click on the Forums link which will take you to the Forums Home (and all the links you could possibly want).
