So is this basically like a DE workout for curls?
Not everything has to be referred to in Zatsiorsky's terminology. :)
I prefer to see it as a neural activation and muscle stimulation contrast.
oh okay, I'm going to go do some neural activation and muscle stimulation contrast benching. Most likely 8 sets of triples, that seems to work well.
lol jk but have you noticed any difference in your heavy loaded curling since adding in these techniques?
Well, as I mentioned this was an experimental workout aimed at trying out a bunch of stuff. But yeah, when I started using some of these techniques (for all muscle groups) my strength has really improved, but most of all I'm always feeling great. This kind of activation work really seems to hype up my CNS, but contrary to other activation methods like clusters and the likes, they don't seem to burn out a lot of nervous energy.
Heck, I got back to Canada 3 weeks ago and I've experimented with training 3x a day with some of these activation methods ON TOP of training my regular clients, and I am not showing any signs of overstress... if anything I'm more happy and energized according to those around me.
That's cool. I'm interested in what methods you incorporate for lats, I feel like my weighted pullups could benifite from something like this. Maybe speed pulldowns or BW pullups with a stretched pause at the hanging position? (no bands/chains on hand) Pullups seem to be harder for me to get into that state of good control like I can with squats+bench ect. |
