So is this basically like a DE workout for curls?

Not everything has to be referred to in Zatsiorsky's terminology. :)

I prefer to see it as a neural activation and muscle stimulation contrast.

oh okay, I'm going to go do some neural activation and muscle stimulation contrast benching. Most likely 8 sets of triples, that seems to work well.

lol jk but have you noticed any difference in your heavy loaded curling since adding in these techniques?

Well, as I mentioned this was an experimental workout aimed at trying out a bunch of stuff. But yeah, when I started using some of these techniques (for all muscle groups) my strength has really improved, but most of all I'm always feeling great. This kind of activation work really seems to hype up my CNS, but contrary to other activation methods like clusters and the likes, they don't seem to burn out a lot of nervous energy.

Heck, I got back to Canada 3 weeks ago and I've experimented with training 3x a day with some of these activation methods ON TOP of training my regular clients, and I am not showing any signs of overstress... if anything I'm more happy and energized according to those around me.

That's cool. I'm interested in what methods you incorporate for lats, I feel like my weighted pullups could benifite from something like this. Maybe speed pulldowns or BW pullups with a stretched pause at the hanging position? (no bands/chains on hand) Pullups seem to be harder for me to get into that state of good control like I can with squats+bench ect.

Why are you currently using the fat bar in these new videos?

It looks cool.

Seriously, curling with a fat bar allows for a better contraction. That actually holds true for most pressing exercises too. Heck, all of our dumbbells have a fat grip.

At my gym, we actually have a thick ez-curl bar that you can add plates to. Sadly, I think I might be the only one that ever uses it; everyone prefers normal thickness or those stupid ones with permanently attached weights.

CT, do you happen to know what the el gordos weight capacity is? If it's tube steel or solid steel? Elitefts includes no further specifications other than the thickness and the weight.

this is why T-Nation is the premier site on bodybuilding.

And here I thought that T-Nation was for Powerlifters.

I train at a commercial gym and don't know if the benifits will outweigh how weird I'd look to everyone.

First Off...If worrying about what and who is looking at you crosses your mind while working out then your probably in the wrong place to begin with.
Second....Never turn your cheek to some new ideas till you test the waters yourself...I'm willing to try anything new in an effort to grow without rediculous injuries. I workout at a Gold's where Ed Corney trains. The man is soo broken down from shoulder surgeries to heart issues and I know the Sauce got him big but they worked out like cavemen back then and he still does. I've seen him load 15 plates on a leg press and only move it 2 inches because he can't let go of the "OLD" and possibly grasp some of the "NEW." That is what Mr. T brings...something new and refreshing.
